2011 Laredo with 40K miles in question. Base to the bone. This is to replace my delicate British junk Lincoln.

Pre-update, probably not. I’d just get a Camry.

It’s pre-8 speed isn’t it? Along with Uconnect? Even the small screen is better than the old radio.

For 17k? That’s actually a pretty good deal. I’d say get some winter tires for the stock wheels and a nice set of summer wheels/tires to throw on it the rest of the time. And get a DiabloSport for the engine. Do iiiiiiiiiit.

I just have absolutely no interest or desire to own a FWD base model full-sized Jeep under any circumstances. I’m not saying you shouldn’t, because if you like it, that’ a fair price and not a bad car. But your question was “would you drive a 2wd base grand cherokee” and my personal answer, no matter how fantastic the deal is, is that I would not.

If it were 4x4 I might consider it. Just maybe. Although as many people on here know, I’m a sticker for toys and comfort, and would take a high mileages luxury car over a low mileage base model any day. Although, as I said, that seems like a good price. If you decide you want 4x4, and don’t mind traveling a bit..

“I went to Major world Auto dealer in long island city on may 24 2014 after seeing a 2012 Jeep Cherokee, vin number 1c4rjfag6cc134954 for sale, advertised online at Kelly blue book website for 16900 dollars. I called and they conformed the price which was $6000 under the book value. Once I got there, I was approached by a salesperson. I showed him the advertisement and he asked me how am I paying. As soon I said cash, his whole attitude changed. We started to walk to find the car in the lot, that’s when he said that he is not sure if the mileage on the odometer was the actual mileage. I figured that he was trying to discourage me so I said that I will check Carfax report and it should show the mileage. When we got to the car, then he said that the car was involved in accident and it had a salvaged title. So walked out knowing that he did not want to sell the vehicle at the advertised price. They do false advertising to bring people to the business. And they don’t want to sell if costumer is paying cash because then they cannot charge financing fees etc.”

Yes it is! A friend of mine in college had a 2wd Grand Cherokee. She lived in Florida so 4wd wasn’t necessary at all. We went to school at Mizzou and her car was basically useless during huge Midwestern snow storms haha

Sorry. We also have a RWD Ranger, and my sister and I were able to get home in it in only a few hours during the bad snow/ice storm of January 2014. Had to help push it up a hill once, but it’s better than most of the people who dumped their vehicles on the side of the road.

The back is very light in the Ranger, but I don’t know about a RWD SUV. Still, even with RWD, that Grand Cherokee is an awesome deal.

I am driving a 2012 Laredo with the V6. So, yes, yes I would drive a 2wd base Grand Cherokee. It is a great suv, and also gets surprisingly good gas mileage. I am currently getting >25mpg. Feel free to ask me anything about it!

I’d say good deal if it weren’t a Grand Cherokee. The 4WD models are 10x better and there’s almost no sacrifice in mpg when compared to the 2WD models.

No, but that’s just because I don’t like SUVs. Nothing wrong with a RWD Jeep though. It just means you have to drive faster to avoid getting stuck.

Makes the car a little more capable, ability to select different modes (sand, snow, etc), certain models give you the air suspension.

07/29/2015 at 22:47

Then buy a Compass. Ok no, do not buy a Compass, you’ll want to off yourself after the first week.

All jokes aside, it is a rather good deal for this particular GC. I personally think they should all be 4WD but it’s not needed everywhere.

It’s cheap for a reason. 2wd jeeps are not desirable and even less so in base trim. You’ll have a hard time selling that in a few years. Sounds silly but you can get a similar year 4wd rav 4 for the same money. Better car all around.
